TB, some interesting points of yours...

" I mostly replay my TR2 and TR3 level for fun. Not so with TR4."

"Why da hack does everybody think the same about TR4? "
maybe...?
because it's a chore; it's very FX pretty but oh so tedious..?
I play some, get bored w/ it & go back to level tweaking.

After TR4 I replayed TR1 and I thought that this was more fun. Then, going over to TR2, it was even much more fun.
: First I thought that it depends on the amount of features, moves and the new look. But after a while I thought about my good old James Bond movie collection. Both, TR and JB deal w/ the same phenomenon of having a huge stron fan community. The other thing that was unique until TR4 was the 'travelling around the world' thrill to save menkind from evil. Imagine a James Bodn film where he always stays in the same country. After half an hour I would fall asleep. I think thatīs the problem w/ that game, no travelling, always located in Egypt and stumbling around in deserts and tombs.

I agree;also,if you've read any of the original James Bond
paperbacks; they are just soaked in Atmosphere! Ian Fleming
was a master adventure writer. his James Bond is so cool! and
somehow, after Sean Connery's Bond, the movies went kind of
"flat" not so exciting...

the same is happening to Lara Croft.
the TombRaider series rides on her shoulders.
When the magnetism of the story's character declines,

so does the story(or game in this case);
hence the importance of Lara's "looks" in the game.

here's an analogy: Ann Wilson(singer for the band "Heart") was on
a show recently...natch, she's getting up there in years & is no
longer the cute, svelte brunette we all remember from
"Barracuda" or "Heartless" days.

however, when she picked up a mic & sang...
it was All There(bless her talented soul!)she is still
the perfect master at Her Job!
(what a great singer!)and it's easy to forget
about "looks" & insted hear her terrific voice.

the same cannot be said for the newer "Laras"; they
lack charm & have caused a good game to
decline in appeal. And this is a pre-fabricated,manmade
world of TR; not personal power like Ann's.
so they should have been more careful...

also, the silly attempt at injecting a 16 yr. Lara into the game
was embarrassing;(made me cringe getting thru that intro..)

like that "the Young Indiana Jones" TV series of years past that
fell flat on it's face (didn't last the season)..
people like Dr.Jones; not a child...

Eidos should have remembered that one.
