Hi, Kevin:

Thank you for your interest for my tools.
ld_tr.com will be renamed rec_tr.com soon when int 80 succeeds in flushing
gamelog buffer during gameplay. It has now some "indos flag" difficulties,
as Turbo Pascal envisioned.
rec_tr.com is the TR_Recorder. It records TR Playing gamelog from the start
till you quit TR. A TR_Replayer hopefully reruns TR_Recorder gamelog. If
gamelog splicing/editing know-how is established, you'll be able to show your
whole gameplay till game completion to your audience.
( I have not set hands on TR_Replayer yet. )
I do suspect that demo scene data was captured from usual gameplay with
built-in gamerecorder of tomb.exe ( of course, not the published version,
but the development version ). Look at this residual string in the body of
tomb.exe:
000b4290 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 45 58 49 54 00 00 ..........EXIT..
000b42a0 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 50 4c ..............PL
000b42b0 41 59 42 41 43 4b 20 44 45 4d 4f 00 00 00 00 00 AYBACK DEMO.....
000b42c0 00 00 52 45 43 4f 52 44 20 44 45 4d 4f 00 00 00 ..RECORD DEMO...
000b42d0 00 00 00 00 00 00 50 4c 41 59 20 46 4d 56 00 00 ......PLAY FMV..
000b42e0 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 4c 45 56 45 4c 20 ..........LEVEL
000b42f0 43 4f 4d 50 4c 45 54 45 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 COMPLETE........
"PLAYBACK DEMO"? "RECORD DEMO"? "PLAY FMV"? Have you seen these words
in your gameplay?
Perhaps the recorder subroutine itself was erased from the published version.
Or by any chance it is still there, but never called? Some occult key
combination activates the recorder?? ( i doubt it :) )
TR levels other than two levels equipped with demo have no demo scene data.
In TR1, if you rename some level as LEVEL2.PHD and let the demo start, the
game crashes as the renamed level has no demo data in it. If never-seen-
before demo started, i would have admired the gamedesigners for their playful
generosity but perhaps they had no time before publishing the game :)
rec_tr.com is a very tiny program.
I'll soon email the rec_tr.com with source and its readme will explain how
to make demo scenes from rec_tr.com gamelog. then i'll upload somewhere the
TR_Recorder Kit.
