About your tool: does it display the sound name like "sound #num" or with a friendly name ? I mean, I like sound jack because it tries to display a name matching the sound (it's in a separate text file and it's hard-coded, but TR1/2/3/4 are released and these will never change). It's a lot easier to find a sound when it has a name than listening to all sounds looking for the one you are interested in. Or may be regrouping them would be possible: all Lara sounds / all ambiance sounds / etc...
I'm thinking about this naming problem: when you are working on a level, I think having a real name for each item would be better than having something like "moveable #1" or "mesh #34". We could create some optional structures (appended after the data level) which would map an "item number" to a friendly name... That's a thought for the moment (it's not really important now), but later we may have to think about it again.
