I found that Amapi 3d exports the correct type of DXF to include with STRPX. Also Amapi will import dxf's from 3DMAX so you can still use 3d max to create your objects.
Amapi was free on a cover disk recenly either Computer arts or 3D world
I'm sure you can still get a copy of it though
