hi Rob,
hi Quad,
as Quad said>
I'm sure that in a few months some of the TRLE builders will join our small group because they want something different.
well,(i hope so!)
but, you may want to hang in there(w/ the TRLE) just a little longer;
recent events lead me to believe that the "irregular floors" or
(triangular meshes) will not be implemented in the TReditor.
so how do you feel about building your levels w/ blocks only?
(thought so...)
but, we do have models, static meshes & 60 + "wads" compared
to the paltry amount in the TRLE editor...so, there is a
trade-off there...
: I could not agree more. my experience to date is only with room editor. however I've been coming over here from time to time and lurking in the shadows since early December. I find what this community is doing to be far more compelling then the thought of dealing with a (half working) TRLE. there's just to many planed limitations with it. and so I'm not very happy with eidos. I want to start learning programming and use what I learn to help this group. the last program that I wrote was in basic on the apple 2e and I didn't touch computers for many years. However I am a fast learner and quite re inspired. I started learning HTML about 6 weeks ago as a way to prepare my mined for programming language. I have a site that stared as practice for htm but I'm hosting tools now. and would like to build an archive for all TR. related applications. I think when people who come to my site see that there is another side to the TR. community they will be interested. I was also wondering if any of the programs your group is using are written in open source? I think this is the best way for me to learn. I guess that's all for now, just wanted to introduce myself and start inquiring as to how people would fell If I was to host there tools.
i guess a lot of people are dissapointed w/ Core's level editor;
the many built-in restrictions. seems like a dirty trick, almost.
like a tease.of course they're working on Next Generation; got
"no time" for adding wads---
you got more patience than I have; I opened up the TRLE when i first got
it and was almost instantly depressed at what they had done...
it's "un-necessary cruelty"; anyways, stay tuned; i'm sure in
awhile, all of the objects from the first 3 TR games will be
ripped and added to the TRLE..
then, we can throw away the first 3 games,
nobody will ever Have to play them ever again---
they were built with old, crappy game engines;
no flybys,no combining weapons...
therefore, they must be garbage,
myself, I still believe that a classic game is
worth keeping, and if you are going to build a new level
of it.
why not do it in the style of the original game?
("crappy game engine" and ALL..)
anyways, that's probably why we're *here* &
not *there*...
