: : I know that some person (like my friend Eep2) want all tools in the
: : same package, but i think that is very hard to get all us to work
: : in the same source code, it is more ease that a man change his religion that
: : a man change his Programing Language, some Us want to use C++, others want
: : Visual Basic, I want Borland Object Pascal and maybe someone want Java etc.
: : So i think it is better options that every one use his own Language to make a
: : Independiently Tool.
: Actually I suggested modular programs, where they all plug in to a core program. So one module could view textures, another rooms, another non-room meshes, another allow texture replacement, another room vertex manipulation, another non-room mesh vertex manipulation, etc, etc. While this may be more confusing, it would allow programmers to create the modules THEY wanted to rather than having to create an entire level editor (or whatever), Of course such modularity requires good organization and design so if anyone wants to be the Linus Torvaldi (whatever) of TR utils, go for it. I would but I'm not a programmer; most I could do is motivate and perhaps get programmers working together...but even I doubt that. ;)
Whoa, what you mean you doubt that? Without you we wouldn't have a thing!
Also agree with Yuri on the choice of what to work on. If everyone could
settle on a language and a guideplan then it would be great but not at that
stage now. I even remember T Pascal saying a while back that he was upset
when a 'promised editor' never arrived because he had put his stuff on hold.
I totally understand that.
When I pointed out that we had no editors, just viewers, I KNOW that we
have to start out to understand the problem before we can tackle it. And
like was said, a viewer is very close to an editor, just reversed.
If we all had 3500 bucks to blow on a pro 3d package it might make things
happen quicker. And I do believe that is what will come about on this
editor. TR is not Quake. Anyways...I'm off the soapbox and back to work.
